I Spit Ashes is a German melodic death metal band from Pegnitz in Upper Franconia .
history
Founded in spring 2007 by Emanuel Seis (guitar), Bernhard Lindner (guitar) and Florian Knauer (drums), I Spit Ashes brought the demo EP State of the in 2010 after several line-up changes with Benjamin Müller (bass) and Benedikt Rathsmann (vocals) Kind of out. At the time of the official release, Florian Knauer had already been replaced by Daniel Lammich. From 2010 onwards some concerts were played in this line-up. a. with Dark Tranquility and Insomnium . In the summer of 2011 the debut album Inhaling Blackness - Reflecting Light followed with Kristian Kohlmannslehner in his coal cellar studios. In the winter of 2011 the band announced that they were under contract with Massacre Records . Inhaling Blackness - Reflecting Light was released on August 24, 2012. The band's second album 99942 was released on April 25, 2015 via Hell Awaits Records / FDC Media.

Musically, I Spit Ashes orientate themselves next to the usually played band parts (dominated by brutally staged riffs and rhythmic drumming) on strongly pronounced synthesizers and blockbuster-like soundtrack sampling, which are also an integral part of the sound image.
In terms of text, I Spit Ashes deal with futuristic art fairy tales, questions of existence, cosmic orders such as life, death and God, but also dystopias and apocalyptic themes, which are mostly expressed in future scenarios. The texts leave room for interpretation and dispense with clear evaluations of good and bad. In addition, the band is often prone to pathos, as is the case in science fiction and end time films.

Live the band plays with a specially made stage design and also visually emulates the sound image described with metal, futuristic accents and light. Special effects such as CO 2 cannons and pyro effects are also used.
