I Walk the Line is the 18th studio album by the American country singer Johnny Cash . It was released in May 1964 on Columbia Records under the production of Don Law and Frank Jones.
The album was Columbia Records' attempt to capitalize on previous Cash hits on Sun Records . Cash therefore re-recorded eight hits from his Sun era, including I Walk the Line , which became the album's title track.

All songs had appeared on Sun albums and as singles (with the exception of Wreck of the Old 97 , which had not been released as a single). I Still Miss Someone is the remake of a song that first appeared on The Fabulous Johnny Cash in 1959. The new songs were Bad News , Understand Your Man , Still in Town and Troublesome Waters .
Chart successes
The album reached number one on the country albums charts and at the same time also number 53 on the pop charts. The single Unterstand Your Man became a number 1 hit on Billboard Country Songs . Lyrically and musically, the song is strongly based on Bob Dylan's folk song Don't Think Twice, It's All Right , which Cash recorded the following year for his album Orange Blossom Special .
