Ia ( Greek Δημοτική Ενότητα Οίας Dimotiki Enotita Ias ) has been one of two parishes of the municipality of Thira on the Greek island of Santorini since 2011 . It emerged from the former rural community and is divided into the island of Thirasia with the status of a city district and the local community Ia, which occupies the northern part of the island of Thira .

history

The municipal district Ia emerged as part of the 2010 administrative reform from the rural municipality of the same name, which has existed since 1997. This was formed through the merger of the rural communities of Thirasia and Ia with the community reform .
