Iacob Negruzzi

Iacob Negruzzi (born December 31, 1842 in Iași , † January 6, 1932 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian poet, literary historian and cultural critic.

Life

As the son of the Romanian poet and writer Constantin Negruzzi , Iacob Negruzzi studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Berlin and in 1859 was active in the Corps Neoborussia , which later made him an honorary member. He became professor of commercial law at the University of Iași and in Bucharest in 1885. With Vasile Alecsandri he published the revue Convorbiri literare from 1867 , for which he wrote numerous poetic and prosaic contributions. With Alecsandri he also directed the Romanian and French theaters in Iași. From 1880 Iacob Negruzzi was a member, later president of the Romanian Academy of Sciences in Bucharest.
