Iain Quarrier

Iain Quarrier (born April 12, 1941 in Montreal ) is a Canadian actor who became known through his work with Roman Polański in When Katelbach Comes ... (1966) and Dance of the Vampires (1967).

In 1968 he worked as an actor and producer on Jean-Luc Godard's film Eins plus Eins , which was to be premiered at the London Film Festival . However, Godard was so dissatisfied with Quarrier's production that he stepped on stage before the premiere began and advised viewers to ask for their money back. When the majority of the audience declined, a heated argument broke out, in the course of which Godard punched Quarrier and swore never to make another commercial film.

Quarrier was also personally close to his film partners Roman Polański and his wife Sharon Tate . On August 8, 1969, the night of the Manson Family murder of Tate and four other people , he and Michael Pearson , who (with Quarrier) had worked on the film Vanishing Point , were invited to Tate's home. However, due to a delay in shooting their latest film, they did not arrive in Los Angeles on time and thus avoided the massacre.

After Tate's death, Quarrier retired from the film business.

“[Iain Quarrier] stands for the golden youth of the" Swinging Sixties "in London, a glittering bohemian from the inner circle of beautiful people. He's the flawless dandy who keeps a close eye on what's trendy, who attaches great importance to his appearance and knows very well how he's perceived, while exuding a touch of disdainful, disinterested coolness.
