Ian Bremmer (born November 12, 1969 ) is an American political scientist specializing in the areas of foreign policy , state transformation and global political risks, founder and president of the Eurasia Group and initiator of the Global Political Risk Index (GPRI) on Wall Street.

Life

Bremmer began his political science studies at Tulane University , which he left in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in order to continue his studies in the same subject at Stanford University . In 1991 he obtained the degree of Master of Arts (MA) and in 1994 the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) , both in political science.

He is President of the Eurasia Group, a company he founded in 1998, which operates worldwide and sees its area of ​​responsibility in research and advice on global political risks. At the same time, Bremmer is Global Research Professor at New York University , involved in the economics department , where he teaches and is responsible for organizing events and seminars in an advisory capacity.

Bremmer expresses himself in various, comprehensive forms in economic and political matters. He wrote several books, some of which were published in German. He also works as a columnist for the news magazine Time and the Reuters news agency . He writes for the blog The Call within the website of Foreign Policy magazine. In addition, Bremmer publishes articles and essays in the Wall Street Journal , the Washington Post , the New York Times and Newsweek, among others .
