The Eurasia Group is an international consulting company headquartered in New York City . It also has offices in Brasília , Washington, DC , London , Tokyo , São Paulo , San Francisco and Singapore . It was founded in 1998 by Ian Bremmer and specializes in the analysis of geopolitical events and the determination of the resulting risks. From the analysis, a list of the 10 greatest political risks is published every January. The company also calculates the Global Political Risk Index (GPRI) every year, which was developed for Wall Street investors in 2001 .

The company is divided into different departments, which deal with political developments in different regions of the world and security policy areas. The Eurasia Group maintains a website with quasi-journalistic content and regular updates. Services provided to clients include policy risk advice, management advice, strategy development, data sharing and public speaking at meetings and events.

The Eurasia Group has a separate advisory board whose members are industry and finance directors, many with government experience. In December 2014, Kevin Rudd , former Australian Prime Minister, joined the Eurasia Group as Senior Advisor. Other senior advisors include former Canadian Foreign Minister John Russell Baird , cyber and technology advisor Alec Ross , former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta and former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski . Another well-known employee is the political scientist Robert D. Kaplan . Also Sigmar Gabriel has been working for the company.

In 2015, Eurasia Group announced a partnership with Nikko Asset Management to integrate political risk analysis into emerging market mutual funds . According to the Wall Street Journal, "this is the first such partnership between the consultancy and an asset manager".
