Ian Cundy

Ian Patrick Martyn Cundy (born April 23, 1945 in Sturminster Newton, Dorset , † May 7, 2009 ) was an Anglican bishop of the Church of England .

Cundy attended Trinity College , Cambridge , where he studied mathematics and theology , and Tyndale Hall Theological College . He was ordained a priest in 1970 and worked in various parishes . In 1992, Cundy received his episcopal ordination and was suffragan ( area bishop ) with the title of Bishop of Lewes. In 1996 he was appointed Bishop of Peterborough. As such, he became Spiritual Lord in the House of Lords in March 2001 .

Cundy, who suffered from pleural mesothelioma , announced his resignation from office in July 2009. He died surprisingly on May 7th. J. en route to the West Country from Cambridgeshire for a family reunion.

Cundy was married with three children, two sons and a daughter.
