Ian Glasper

Ian Glasper is a British bass player , music producer and punk historian who writes non-fiction books about the history of British punk culture in the 1980s and 1990s.

Life

Glasper was drawn into the punk scene as a teenager through the music of Antz , Blondie and Squeeze . He played bass in the British bands Decadence Within and Stamping 'Ground, among others . With Stampin 'Ground he appeared in his most successful times in the opening act for Iron Maiden at the Castle Donington Monsters-of-Rock-Festival in front of 50,000 listeners on the main stage. He got into writing in the mid-1980s through his own fanzine called Little Things Please Little Minds . He then took over a column on hardcore punk for the trendy magazine Terrorizer , which appeared in more than 200 issues. At the same time he wrote reviews on his special musical field for the British magazine Record Collector for years . With these initial conditions, he had some references as a punk historian when he negotiated with the record label Cherry Red about his book project Burning Britain . He also started his own music label in 1998 called Blackfish Records, which in the five years of its existence included around 20 releases, some re-releases , but also new hardcore and metalcore albums. In 2003 he temporarily put the label on hold in order to write his books. Since 2000 he has played or played bass in the bands Flux of Pink Indians , Freebase , Thirty Six Strategies and Warbound, among others .

The musician and author is married and has two children. He earns his living with a job as a regional logistics manager for a transport company.
