Giandomenico Salvadori (born October 8, 1992 ) is an Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Salvadori started in Rogla for the first time in March 2011 over 10 km in the classic Alpine Cup and finished the race in 52nd place. He achieved his first top 20 place two years later in the same place with twelfth place in the prologue of a stage race. Salvadori finished the second stage over 10 km classically in tenth place; in the final pursuit, he finished ninth. In December 2013 in Gressoney-Saint-Jean he finished ninth over the 15 km classic and on the following day seventh place in the 15 km freestyle pursuit race two more top 10 placements. In the 30 km freestyle mass start race in Rogla in March 2014, Salvadori finished sixth. In the 2014/15 season in Oberwiesenthal he achieved his first podium finish in the Alpine Cup in January 2015 with third place over 15 km classic and achieved the fastest time in the final stage of the stage race in Campra, which was held as a pursuit race ; he finished the stage race in second place. In the overall ranking of the 2014/15 Alpine Cup, Salvadori came third. At the U23 World Championships in Almaty , he reached fourth place in the 15 km freestyle and fifth place in the skiathlon . In December 2015, Salvadori made his debut in the World Cup in Lillehammer , finishing 56th in the skiathlon. At the subsequent first station of the 2015/16 Alpine Cup in Prémanon , he won the 15 km freestyle and came second in the 15 km classic. At the beginning of January 2016 he got his first World Cup points in the Tour de Ski with 28th place in the 30 km mass start stage. This was followed by two victories at the Alpine Cup in Campra and at the end of the season 39th place at the Ski Tour Canada . In the overall ranking of the 2015/16 Alpine Cup, Salvadori came first. After finishing 66th at the Minitor in Lillehammer at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won the Alpine Cup in Goms over 15 km in classic style and took third place in the 15 km mass start race. He also won the pursuit race in Zwiesel . He finished the Tour de Ski 2016/17 in 28th place and the World Cup final in Québec in 30th place. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he finished 21st place over 15 km classic, tenth place in the skiathlon and eighth place with the relay. The following season he came in 36th place in the Ruka Triple and 20th in the World Cup final in Falun . At the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he ran to 26th place in the skiathlon, 16th place in the 50 km mass start race and seventh place with the relay.

In the 2018/19 season, Salvadori finished 48th in the Lillehammer Triple, 35th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and 53rd in the World Cup final in Québec. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , he ran to 26th place in the 50 km mass start race, 16th place in the skiathlon and tenth place in the relay. After placing 53 in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he achieved 29th place in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and 37th place in the ski tour and thus reached 63rd place in the overall World Cup.
