Ian Anthony Pearce (born May 7, 1974 in Bury St. Edmunds ) is a former English professional footballer .

Career

Ian Pearce began his career in the 1992/1993 season when he first moved up from the youth team to the professional squad of Chelsea FC . On September 5, 1992, he made his debut in the game at Anfield against Liverpool when he came on after twelve minutes for Paul Elliott . In London, however, he could not prevail, so he moved to Blackburn Rovers in October 1993 after only four games for Chelsea .

In September 1997 Pearce moved to West Ham United for a fee of £ 3.5 million. At West Ham, he quickly became a leader before an injury stopped him in the 1999/2000 season. In the first game of the season against Tottenham Pearce had to be replaced after 37 minutes due to a knee injury. Then he missed the entire season.

He made his comeback on October 28, 2000 against Newcastle . In the 2002/2003 season Pearce rose with West Ham in the Football League Championship . His return to the Premier League came in January 2004 when he moved to Fulham FC . Pearce quickly became a regular player, but in December he injured his back, so he had to sit out the entire second half of the season. Since his return in October 2005, Pearce is no longer an undisputed regular player, having only made 22 league games for his club in the 2006/2007 season.

Others

Ian Pearce is one of only six players who have played at least one game in England's top division every season since the Premier League was launched in 1992. The other five are: David James , Sol Campbell , Ryan Giggs , Gary Speed, and Nicky Butt .
