Ian Sommerville
Ian Sommerville (* 1951 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a British computer scientist . He was a full professor at Saint Andrews University until 2014 and is the author of a widely used textbook on software engineering .
Life
Sommerville studied physics at the University of Strathclyde and computer science at the University of St Andrews. From 1975 to 1978 he was a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and then until 1986 at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. In 1986 he was appointed professor in software engineering at the University of Lancaster . From 2006 to January 2014 he continued his academic career at his alma mater , the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
