The Ibar Rocks are two cliff rocks in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . They are 300 m east of Bonert Rock and 1 km southeast of Canto Point on Greenwich Island .
The name Islote Ibar or Islote Teniente Ibar is recorded on Chilean maps from the 1950s for the larger of the two rocks. After hydrographic surveys by the Royal Navy with the Antarctic patrol boat HMS Protector in 1964, the name was extended to the second rock when it was translated into English. It is named after Lieutenant Mario Ibar Pinochet, who led the opening ceremonies of the Chilean Arturo Prat station on Greenwich Island in 1947.
