Ida Maria (born July 13, 1984 in Nesna ; full name Ida Maria Børli Sivertsen ) is a Norwegian rock singer .

Ida Maria heard the music from her parents, a teacher couple: her father is a ska and jazz musician, her mother sings on festive occasions. She played guitar in the band a few times and performed at the local pub when she was 14. At 16 she went to Bergen and later to Uppsala , Sweden , where she played in a four-piece band.

2006 Ida Maria entered the talent competition Zoom Urørt of the Norwegian broadcaster NRK and won. This success made her very popular and her debut album Fortress Round My Heart rose to number 5 on the Norwegian charts in May 2008. At the same time she prepared her career in England and played the festival tour, where she also appeared in Glastonbury . Then she made it into the British charts in the summer with her single I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked .

In 2008 she was awarded the Spellemannprisen , the most important Norwegian music prize, as best newcomer for the album Fortress Round My Heart .
