The Idam ( English Idam River ) is a right tributary of the Sepik .
Location and course
The Idam rises about 20 kilometers east of the border of Papua New Guinea / Papua (Indonesia) on Wabenabei (about 1900 m ⊙ ), one of the main peak of the Western Range , low northwestern foothills of the Bismarck Mountains which surrounds the upper Sepik. The Idam flows northwards and leaves the mountains after about 20 km. The places Antibi / Ju-Whiai 2 (approx. 80 m ⊙ ) and Bablediam / Idam (No. 1) (height approx. 90 m ⊙ ) are located here. Then the river meanders along the mountain foot further north, with the places Isagu / Entibi (approx. 80 m ⊙ ) and further north Bisiaburu (approx. 80 m ⊙ ). Between Iaburu and Mukuasi / Mukwasi , the Idam flows into the Sepik after a further 20 km as the crow flies from the right .
The area, like most of the Sepik area, is largely untouched. The upper course of the Sepik flows through mountain rainforest , the lower course through a flood plain.
