game

The young manager Tsumugi Takanashi begins her work in her father's agency and is the first to be faced with a difficult task: she is supposed to look after the company's first boy band. The seven young men who have just been cast as idols are introduced to her: Iori Izumi, who is only 17 years old but very grown up; the 22 year old, reserved but caring Yamato Nikaidō; the one year younger, lively and cheerful brother of Irori, Mitsuki Izumi; the excellent dancer but otherwise somewhat dissolute Tamaki Yotsuba; the conscientious and kind Sōgo Osaka; the half-Japanese Nagi Rokuya, a womanizer and otaku ; and the somewhat naive, spirited singer Riku Nanase. The strongest competition of the group and their biggest incentive is the already very successful group Trigger. In addition, the group of very different boys has to get used to each other and to the new life as an idol.

The player takes on the role of the manager. As these, the seven musicians must be prepared for their performances in dialogue and rhythm tasks.

Anime series

After the manager Tsumugi Takanashi has been introduced to the seven would-be idols, she is asked to choose from these three. After careful consideration, however, she wants to bring out all seven because each of the boys brings a special talent. Her father agrees - that was his plan from the start anyway - and so begins the hard work to make the seven known and successful. Since the small company Takanashi Production only consists of a handful of employees, they have only limited resources, but the manager tries all the more. First they make themselves known with public appearances and win the first fans despite a rainy first concert with few spectators. The next concert is already sold out.

The very successful group Trigger is their competition and their incentive. Consisting of Gaku Yaotome, Ten Kujō and Ryūnosuke Tsunashi, they are under contract with the big label Yaotome Production. After Riku Nanase, lead singer of Idolish7, collapses after a gig, the group learns that he suffers from asthma . You still want to support him to continue his career. It also turns out that Ten is Kujō Riku's big brother, who left his family behind for his career. Riku still holds that against him, but wants to follow the same path in order to understand him better. He also has the same talent for singing. Ten Kujō believes his brother is not up to show business because of his illness and declines contact with him. Nevertheless, the other members of Trigger have taken a liking to the junior research group and secretly give them the opportunity to perform at a festival. This performance, however, is disappointing because Riku is almost having an asthma attack and the others on stage have to support him.

For the time being, only Sōgo Osaka and Tamaki Yotsuba - especially known for their work in a breakdown at the second concert - will celebrate their debut as a duo. Yaotome Production, whose boss wants to fight the competition at all costs, tries to poach them first. He lures Tamaki by trying to help find his sister - the search is Tamaki's reason for wanting to become famous as an idol, since he was separated from her as a small child. Sōgo can convince him that he can do this together with Idolish7. So the duo Mezzo started first and was also a success. Meanwhile, the others continue to work: Yamato Nikaidō is also active as an actor, Nagi Rokuya appears in advertising and the group produces its own web series.

When the debut of Idolish7 came and they wanted to present their new song, Trigger came before them. Their composer couldn't create a song that satisfies Yaotome, so he single-handedly stole Idolish7's debut single. The theft could not have been proven and the company would have a disadvantage compared to the much better known group, so the seven would have to get by with their previous songs. Nevertheless, they are invited to another festival where Trigger also plays. And Ten Kujō promises to talk to Riku again if the seven manage to win the newcomer award of the year. Motivated in this way, they can also inspire the fans of Trigger at the festival, while the three stars are prevented from performing by their management due to disputes with the festival.

Due to their success, articles with rumors about the members of Idolish7 are increasingly being disseminated, which gradually also affects the friendships: Not only rumors about conflicts or mutual disengagement in the group, but also fictional or true stories about their past, about which the boys never spoke to each other. After all, the group is about to break up. Trigger's conflict with its management is also coming to a head because the group, like Idolish7, would rather care about its fans than business strategies and some of the rumors also concern connections between Idolish7 and Trigger. Finally they confront the producers with Yaotome and demand an end to the campaign against Idolish7. Gaku Yaotome, son of the managing director, also explains to Tsumugi Takanashi that they are half-siblings: Her mother was first with Yaotome and then with Takahashi. After Idolish7 has spoken out, everyone thinks about their goals as musicians and can start again. You win the newcomer award and can compete against triggers in a competition at the end of the year, who are also looking forward to the competition. Finally, Idolish7 wins and is named Idol Group of the Year.
