Ignacio Aldecoa (born July 24, 1925 in Vitoria-Gasteiz , † November 15, 1969 in Madrid ) was a Spanish writer .

Life

Ignacio Aldecoa grew up in a middle-class family in the Basque city of Vitoria. After graduating from the Colegio Santa María of the Marianists , he began in 1942 to study philosophy and literature at the University of Salamanca . In 1945 he moved to the Complutense University of Madrid , where, in addition to Jesús Fernández Santos , Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio , José María de Quinto , Alfonso Sastre , he met the writer Josefina Rodríguez , whom he married in 1952.

Aldecoa belongs to the 50s generation of writers who only saw the civil war as children and wrote in a neo-realistic style. His first stories appeared in magazines such as La Hora , Juventud and Haz y Alcalá . He published his first volumes of poetry, Todavía la vida (1947) and Libro de las algas (1949). In 1953 he received the Juventud magazine prize for his story Seguir de pobres . In 1954, his novel El fulgor y la sangre ( Eng . Shine and blood ) took second place at the Premio Planeta , his novel Gran Sol received the Premio de la Crítica in 1958. Ignacioa Aldecoa died in Madrid in 1969.
