Ignacio Coronel

Ignacio Coronel Villarreal , also Nacho Coronel (born February 1, 1954 in Canelas , Durango , † July 29, 2010 in Zapopan ) was the head of a Mexican drug cartel .

Coronel was one of the three leaders of the Sinaloa cartel , along with El Chapo and Ismael Zambada García . He was one of the most wanted drug lords in Mexico and the United States. He was killed in a shootout with the Mexican army . He was buried together with his nephew Mario Carrasco Coronel (El Gallo), who was killed one day later , in the Jardines del Humaya cemetery.

With Nacho Coronel's death, the Coronel clan was greatly weakened. He was succeeded by his nephew Jose Angel Carrasco Coronel (El Changel) , who was arrested on January 19, 2013 by the Mexican army.
