Ignacio Salas Gallardo (born July 30, 1938 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of central defender .
He began his professional career in the 1961/62 season with his hometown club Chivas Guadalajara , with which he won three championship titles in the 1960s .
Salas was also scheduled for the Mexican soccer team that traveled to Tokyo for the 1964 Olympic soccer tournament , but was replaced at the last moment by Mario Ayala from Club America .
