Ignaz Preisegger
Ignaz Preisegger (born January 14, 1824 in Bruck an der Mur ( Styria ), † July 2, 1881 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) was an Austrian portrait painter.
Preisegger studied from 1838 to 1849 at the State Drawing Academy (Steiermärkische Landeskunstschule) in the Stubenberg Palace in Graz under Joseph August Stark and Joseph Ernst Tunner .
After completing his studies, he settled in Carinthia as a freelance artist.
In the 1850s he stayed temporarily in Venice.
Preisegger devoted himself mainly to portrait painting, also dealt with landscape painting, created religious works, etc. a. the high altar picture for the St. Rupert's Church in Klagenfurt (today on the south wall).
Ignaz Preisegger was active in the Viktringer artist circle and was supported there by Caroline von Moro .
