Igor Corman

Igor Corman (born December 17, 1969 in Ciulucani, Teleneşti Rajon , Moldovan SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Moldovan politician ( PDM ). He was Moldova's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany from 2004 to 2009 and has been a member of the Moldovan Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration since 2009 .

Career

Corman studied from 1986 to 1990 at the State University of Moldova in Chișinău and from 1990 to 1992 at the University of Iași history. From 1992 to 1994 he did his doctorate at the University of Iași and then carried out research at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich until 1995 with a DAAD scholarship .

In 1995 Corman joined the Foreign Service of the Republic of Moldova, where he initially worked in various ministerial positions. In 1997 he visited the European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and subsequently held various functions in the Moldovan Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany, before taking over the management of the main department for Europe and North America in the Moldovan Foreign Ministry in 2001. In 2004 he was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Federal Republic of Germany and held this office until his election to the Moldovan Parliament in 2009.

He has been a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova since 2009 , where he chairs the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration.

Corman is married and has two children. He speaks the foreign languages Russian , English and German .

In 2009 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
