Igor Emiljewitsch Kio ( Russian Игорь Эмильевич Кио ; born March 13, 1944 in Moscow ; † August 30, 2006 ibid) was a Russian magician and illusionist .

Career

Igor's father, Emil Theodorowitsch Kio (born April 11, 1894, † December 19, 1965) was the founder of the kios illusionist dynasty. The illusion show was after the death of Emil Kio Sen. by his two sons Igor Kio and Emil Kio jun. who participated in the father's show from childhood on, continued from 1966 (mainly with the father's repertoire) at home and abroad and later developed further. Both sons appeared separately in their own illusion shows.

Igor Kio gave his first independent shows in the circus at the age of 15 when he had to replace the sick father in the Moscow circus in 1959 . He carried on his father's legacy for over 40 years. At first as a pure takeover of the father's show, later in the creative further development of the proven concept. So he integrated a professional ballet and other artists into his program. His first major independent artistic works as a circus artist, author and director were the program Chosen-77 in the Leningrad Circus in 1977 and the illusion show One-Two-Three .

Igor Kio developed a number of new illusions such as fashion , aquarium , the wing in the air , Houdini's chest , the appearing bear cub , the lion in the air and others. He expanded his circus activity to include the theater stage. His father was denied this dearest wish by the arbitrariness of the authorities.

In 1985 Igor Kio's program Without Illusions premiered at the Moscow Estradentheater. He was present on television in the 80s / 90s with several programs, of which the six-part series All Clowns should be highlighted.

In 1991 Igor Kio's show At six o'clock in the evening after winter and the children's program The Golden Orange were shown in the Moscow Kremlin Palace in front of thousands of spectators . Kio has also enjoyed success in North America, Japan, France, Great Britain, Germany and numerous other countries.

Private

Kio's first wife was the daughter Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev Galina Brezhnev. He was married to her for a full 10 days before they had to part under pressure from Brezhnev.
