Igor Schestkow ( Russian Игорь Генрихович Шестков ; born January 12, 1956 in Moscow ) is a Russian-German writer.

Career

After graduating from school (1973) he studied at the mathematics faculty of Lomonosov University from 1973 to 1978, which he graduated with a diploma. From 1978 to 1988 he worked as a research assistant and took part in several exhibitions of unofficial art in Moscow.

In 1990 he emigrated to Germany as a Jewish refugee . He lived in Chemnitz until 2003 , then in Berlin . In Germany he showed his graphic and photographic work in various personal exhibitions. From 1996 to 2003 he published numerous essays on art under the pseudonym Schestkow-Epstein.

Schestkow has been writing stories since 2003. His literary works have been published in Russian-language magazines in New York ( Slowo / Word , Wremja i Mesto ), Moscow ( Nascha Uliza , Kreschatik ), Berlin ( Jewish newspaper and Europa-Express ), Frankfurt am Main ( literary European and Mosti ), among others . The Chemnitz art newspaper Laterne and the Dresden magazine Ostragehege published his texts in German.

Schestkow is a member of the "Association of Russian Writers in Germany" and the "Association of German Writers" (VS).

Awards

  • Graphics award of the Sparkassen of the administrative district Chemnitz 2002. For lithography "Moses", 1997.
  • Winner of the Russian-language magazine “Literarischer European” (Frankfurt am Main) for the periods 2010–2011 and 2014–2016.
  • Awarded the “Silver Bullet” for 2017 from the publisher Franc-Tireur, USA.
