Igor Sergejewitsch Tichomirow ( Russian И́горь Серге́евич Тихоми́ров ; born May 4, 1963 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet - Canadian sword fencer .

Igor Tichomirow was part of the Soviet squad at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and was only used in the team competition. With the Soviet team he reached the semi-finals, in which France had to admit defeat 5: 9. The battle for third place against Italy was narrowly won, so that Tichomirow received the bronze medal together with Pawel Kolobkow , Vladimir Resnitschenko , Andrei Shuvalov and Mychajlo Tyschko . He was Soviet champion six times.

Tichomirow emigrated to Canada in the early 1990s and later competed internationally under the Canadian flag. In 2006 he won the bronze medal in the individual competition in Turin , and he was also the individual Pan American champion in Valencia . The following year he became Canadian champion. In 2008 he took part in his second Olympic Games in Beijing and finished the individual competition in 15th place. Tichomirow heads a fencing academy in Toronto .
