The Igreja Matriz de Olo is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Portuguese village of Olo . The patron saint is St. Pelagius ( São Paio ).

History and description

Two years after the separation of the area around Olo from the Freguesia Sanche and the establishment of an independent administration, the parish church was rebuilt in 1936.

The church is a simple one-nave building with a choir on a rectangular floor plan. A wooden ceiling spans the interior. A sacristy is built on the north side . The bell tower was built later, probably in the 1960s.

The architecture of the church follows a modern concept with simple and uncomplicated structures, but without turning away from the conventional appearance of northern Portuguese village churches. The rounded gable on the facade of the church is unusual. The sobriety of the design is reminiscent of the spirit of the Estilo Chão .
