Icarus (musician)

Ikarus (born September 18, 1974 in Eisenstadt as Wolfgang Stindl ) is an Austrian musician and producer. Stylistically, he combines electronic music, world music and pop music in his music .

Life

At the age of twelve Icarus started writing songs. Influenced by the first world music records from South Africa, Ikarus founded his first band "United Colors" in 1991 and released the first CD Too Loud .

Ikarus had his breakthrough in 1999 on MP3.com , where he topped the MP3.com charts for weeks. The US record label "Earthtone" became aware of the musician in 2000 and a record deal was signed. The first CD Touch the Sun under the name Ikarus was released in 2001 and received critical acclaim. The mixture of world music elements with electronic sounds brought Ikarus further orders. Among other things, Ikarus' song Praying to Different Gods was used on The Matrix-Revisited , a documentary about the making of the film The Matrix with Keanu Reeves . Various compilations and film scores followed.

The second album Praying to Different Gods was released in 2002. The Angkor Sessions , Ikarus' third album with the singles River and Mr. Brown combined Celtic and electronic sounds. Music videos were created for the songs Believe and Morning Meditation , which were shot by producer Astral Elements in Canada. On the fourth album Breathing Cultures , which was released in 2004, Ikarus worked with various guest singers such as Zeebee , Sandhya Sanjana and Louise Fraser.
