Ila Loetscher

Ila Fox Loetscher (born October 30, 1904 in Callender , Iowa ; † January 4, 2000 ) was an American aviation pioneer and conservationist. She was a founding member of the Ninety Nines pilots' association , and was even more known for her commitment to protecting sea ​​turtles .

The time as a flight pioneer

She became interested in flying at an early age and became the first woman with a pilot's license in Iowa at 25 . She was one of the founding members of the Ninety Nines through an invitation from Amelia Earhart , with whom she was friends .

Working with sea turtles

After the death of her husband, she moved to South Padre Island , Texas. In 1977 she founded the association Sea Turtle Inc. , which cares for the protection and conservation of sea turtles.
