Ilirjan Suli

Ilirjan Suli (born October 11, 1975 ) is a former Albanian weightlifter .

He finished 15th in the class up to 76 kg at the European Championships in 1995 . In 1996 he was seventh at the European Championships . In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he reached 14th place. At the European Championships in 2000 he won the bronze medal in the class up to 77 kg. In the summer he took part in his second Olympic Games in Sydney and led the Albanian team as the flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In the competition he reached fifth place and was the first Albanian to win an Olympic diploma .

In 2002 Suli was fourth in the duel at the world championships in the class up to 85 kg and won the silver medal in the snatch. In 2005 he was registered at the World Championships , but did not take part. After a long break, his next international tournament was the 2011 World Cup , in which he finished 15th. In 2012, however, he was tested positive for metandienone during a training check and was banned for two years.
