Iljaz Bej Mirahori , also Iliaz Hoxha ( Turkish İmrahorlu İlyas Bey ), was an Albanian military commander of the Ottoman Empire and governor under Sultan Bayezid II , who played a major role as a Janissary in the conquest of Constantinople (1453). Iljaz Bej married the daughter of Sultan Mehmed II (the Conqueror) and founded the city of Korça in Albania in the 15th century .

His exact dates of birth and death are not certain. Iljaz Bej was probably born in Panarit near Korça in 1408 and probably joined the Janissary Corps during the reign of Sultan Murad II as part of the boy harvest , after which he was sent to the court in Edirne .

He was considered one of the most loyal subjects of the young conqueror Mehmet II and dedicated his life to the struggle of the Sultan against Skanderbeg and his rebels. In 1453 Ilyaz Bej received the title Mir-i Ahur (Mirahor, "General of the Cavalry") because of his role in the siege of Constantinople . He later rose to Mirahor Evel ("Chief General"). After the conquest, he became the Sanjak - Bey of Korça. Under the orders of Mehmet II, he developed the city of Korça both into a cultural center and a garrison town. He built their first mosque, the Mirahori Mosque . In Istanbul, under Sultan Bayezid II, he converted the monastery church of the Studionkloster into the İmrahor Camii mosque .

Sami Frashëri , whose wife Emine Frashëri considered herself a descendant of Iljaz Bej, wrote several works about him.
