The Illustratoren Organization e. V. (IO) is the professional association of German-speaking illustrators from all areas of professional illustration. The association was founded in Hamburg in 2002 . It represents over 2,000 illustrators from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (as of April 2020).
tasks
The task and objective of the professional association are to promote social respect for creative activity and to protect the interests of authors.
In addition to providing support for its members in all artistic, legal and economic questions that have to do with the practice of the profession, the IO is the contact person for representatives from politics and society and conducts negotiations with exploitation associations. The IO is permanently present at several book fairs , e.g. B. at the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Children's Book Fair Bologna Children's Book Fair .
It supports the independent regional groups in Augsburg, Berlin, Bremen, Darmstadt, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Heidelberg / Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Cologne / Bonn, Mainz / Wiesbaden, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and in Switzerland.
organization
The IO is a member of the Copyright Initiative , Deutsches Designtags e. V. , the umbrella organization of the German Cultural Council e. V. and the European Illustrators Forum (EIF). It also represents the interests of its members on the administrative board of the collecting society Bild-Kunst .
Annika Siems has been chairwoman of the IO since May 2020. The board consists of five members as well as a treasurer and a secretary. The election takes place every two years as part of the annual general meeting.
The office is located in Frankfurt am Main. Stefanie Weiffenbach is the managing director.
