Ilona Kerekes

Ilona Kerekes (born Solyom ; * around 1927) is a Hungarian table tennis player from the 1950s. She won silver in team competitions at two world championships, and in 1960 she became vice European champion in singles.

Career

From 1950 to 1961 Ilona Kerekes-Solyom took part in six world championships . Here she was most successful in the team competition, in which Hungary reached the final in 1950 and 1954 . In 1955 , 1957 and 1961 the team finished fourth and in 1951 fifth.

In 1958 and 1960 Ilona Kerekes-Solyom was nominated for the European Championships. In 1958 she reached the quarter-finals in singles and in doubles with Gizella Lantos in the semi-finals. Two years later she reached the semi-finals again in doubles with Gizella Lantos, in singles she won silver when she lost to the Hungarian Éva Kóczián in the final .

In October 1955 she was ranked 13th in the ITTF world rankings .
