Ilona Vincze-Krausz

Ilona Vincze-Krausz , née Ilona Kraus (born December 14, 1902 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary ; died August 17, 1998 in Tel Aviv ) was a Hungarian-Israeli pianist and piano teacher.

Life

Ilona Kraus parents Isidor Eduard Kraus and Lina Karolina Lefkovitz, Magyarized the family name to Krausz. Ilona Krausz studied piano at the Budapest Music Academy and received a Liszt Prize in 1923. Krausz also studied with Béla Bartók and Ernst von Dohnányi . She subsequently performed as a soloist in Europe. In 1930 she married the cellist László Vincze (1904–1990), they had a son. In 1936 they both emigrated to Palestine . Ilona Vincze taught at the Palestine Conservatory in Jerusalem from 1936 to 1947, then at the Jerusalem Conservatory and from 1966 at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music . Her students include Baruch Arnon , Meira Farkas , Yoheved Kaplinsky , Betty Olivero , Avi Schönfeld , Naomi Shemer , Yaara Tal and Issak Tavior .

She lived in Kfar Shmaryahu .
