Ils Fränzlis da Tschlin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ils Fränzlis da Tschlin are a folk music group from Tschlin in the Lower Engadine in the canton of Graubünden . The name refers to the blind musician Fränzli Waser (1858–1895), who had shaped a special style of the Swiss country with a line-up of wind and string instruments .

history

Ils Fränzlis da Tschlin was founded in 1982 by Men Steiner and Domenic Janett . The musicians do not copy the original style of Fränzli Waser, but edit existing pieces and write their own compositions in which elements of jazz or classical music are also incorporated. Italian, Viennese, Jenish and Rhaeto-Romanic influences can be heard. The musical director of the Fränzlis is Domenic Janett, who has also played with the Engadiner LÄNDERFRAINE since 1974 .

At first the Fränzlis rarely appeared in public. After 1996, when the first CD “Pariampampam” was released, there followed regular public appearances at home and abroad. In 2000 the film Increschantüm (Heimweh) by Stefan Haupt was released about and with the Fränzlis ; the first Romansh documentary film that was shown in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland for weeks.
