life and work
Ilse Zubler was born in Baden as the middle of three children of electrical engineer Rudolf Zubler and teacher Frieda Zubler-Kieser. After attending the secondary school for daughters in Zurich and the piano class at the conservatory , she attended painting lessons in Zurich with Walter Müller at the age of 22. From 1936 to 1937 she continued her studies with Othon Friesz in Paris . In Rome in 1938 she met her husband, Hubert Weber from Geneva , with whom she had a daughter in 1941. After the death of her husband in 1944, she worked as a professional painter. In Wettingen she built a studio house in which she worked from 1949 to 1974. She then worked in a large factory room at the Wettingen spinning mill . In parallel to her drawing, she took on official orders and made mosaics , wall paintings and sgraffiti for public buildings.
