In the square

The Johannis Masonic Lodge in the square is a Masonic lodge in Mannheim and was founded in 1973.

history

The Johannis Masonic Lodge in the square was founded in 1973 by 26 Freemasons from Mannheim, who originally belonged to the Carl zur Eintracht Masonic Lodge . At that time the Carl zur Eintracht Lodge had grown to around 130 brothers and it seemed advisable to spin off the brotherhood to reduce it. On June 24, 1973, the Johannis Masonic Lodge in the square in the Orient Mannheim was ceremoniously put into operation by the then Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Old Free and Accepted Masons of Germany under the matriculation number 925. The contact with the Lodge Carl zur Eintracht was always maintained with joint Masonic evenings and in the last few years it was further developed into a productive cooperation.

The Lodge has been pursuing the “Freemason Culture” project since 2010.

Lodge house

The lodge initially resided in Tullastrasse, but today it meets like many other lodges and groups in lodge house L9.9. The lodge house in L9.9 was inaugurated in 1952 after the old Mannheim lodge house was destroyed during World War II.
