The bulk carrier type Imabari 28 has been built in large numbers by the Japanese shipbuilding company Imabari Zosen since 1990 .

details

The first unit of the series, the Stellar Beny , was delivered in 1990. In the years that followed, the type developed into one of the most successful designs in its segment and established a series of further developed types (Mk. I, Mk. II and Mk. III) that has continued to this day. In March 2009 the 100th unit was delivered with the Lake Konpira and in the fall of 2012 the King Rice , the 200th ship of the type, was completed.

The Imabari-28-ships are as a mobile Size - bulk with aft arranged structures designed. You have five holds and each hold is served by its own hatch. The entire loading space is 37,320 m³ for bulk goods and 35,742 m³ for bale space. Four hydraulic ship cranes mounted amidships are available for cargo handling . This type of ship can transport a good 28,000 tons with maximum unloading. The units are designed for the transport of various bulk goods , such as grain, coal, minerals, including various dangerous goods. The tank roof of the cargo hold is reinforced for the transport of ore. Wood, bagged goods, steel profiles, pipes and other bulk cargo can also be transported.

The ships are powered by a two - stroke diesel engine . The engine enables a speed of around 14  knots . Several auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator are available.
