Building description and history

In 1589, a small wooden chapel was built in Döllingen, which was first mentioned around 1400. This was finally demolished in 1739 due to disrepair. And that same year a new church was built. The building, which cost around 300 Reichstaler, was donated by an unknown nobleman who donated three churches because of a moral offense. The construction and financing of the Döllinger Church was administered and supervised by a Miss Schmidt (or blacksmith), an heir and court wife from Merzdorf .

The Döllinger Church is a small rectangular plastered hall building. The building has a hipped mansard roof on which there is a ridge turret with a tail hood and a weather vane. On the northern side there is an extension that houses the sacristy and the patronage or manor lodge . The box had a separate entrance and a sliding window was the only open connection to the hall. In this way the pastor's sermons could be followed by the government.

At GDR times almost to decay despite existing monument, came with the turn of a new beginning for the Dollinger village church. The church bell from 1877 had already been taken down in the 1960s because the ridge was in danger of falling due to the dilapidation of the ridge. Its predecessor, a bell with a pleasant sound that was cast in the Dresden bell foundry Gottfried Weinhold in 1770 , broke and stood behind the altar at the beginning of the 20th century .

At the beginning of the 1990s the church was extensively renovated and repaired. During this work, the roof turret was rebuilt and the bell could be hung up again. Furthermore, took place the renovation of the interior, then in 1998 the renewal of the facade .

Equipment (selection)

The interior of the church is characterized by a stucco-framed ceiling with a heraldic cartouche. There is also a horseshoe gallery here . The wooden pulpit altar is from the construction period. The octagonal sandstone baptism in the shape of a chalice dates from the 16th century .

The Döllinger Church received its first organ shortly after it was built in 1744. The single-manual instrument was delivered used from Dresden . According to an article from 1907 in the local history series Die Schwarze Elster , the pedal that was available at that time was probably added later. It received the organ that is in the church today in 1919. The instrument was created by the Liebenwerda organ builder Voigt (op. 51). The organ has a mechanical cone chest , two manuals and six registers .
