Beekeeping

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Imke is a female given name of Frisian origin. The male form is Imko . In the Dutch province of Friesland it is also used as a male first name.

The name Imke is the short form of various Germanic names that begin with Irm- , e.g. B. Irmgard , Irmtraud , Irmhild and Irmlinde . The meaning is then also derived from these names. In addition, the name also makes the homophony to Imke , "the honey bee " (see beekeeper ) in the secondary meaning "the hardworking", "busy" (this to ant ) popular. Imke also means “the big one” (from “Irm”, meaning “big”).
