Immanuel Meyer-Pyritz

Immanuel Meyer-Pyritz (born March 16, 1902 in Berlin ; † November 4, 1974 there ) was a painter , graphic artist , art historian and lecturer at the Berlin Art Academy .

Life

The son of the sculptor Martin Meyer-Pyritz was born in Berlin, but grew up with relatives in Pomerania. As a graphic artist, he mainly dealt with Pomeranian landscape and city motifs.

In 1955 he founded the Berlin department of the Society for Pomeranian History, Archeology and Art , which he headed until 1971. In this function he organized five exhibitions in Berlin from 1955 to 1965, for which he also wrote and published catalogs. In 1970 he became an honorary member of the Society for Pomeranian History, Archeology and Art. In recognition of his varied cultural and historical work, the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft awarded him the Pomeranian Culture Prize in 1971 .

The Berliner Tagesspiegel called him educated and noble in its obituary ; In addition, for many years Berlin's cultural life was inconceivable without his activities .

Immanuel Meyer-Pyritz was buried in the Grunewald-Forst cemetery. His grave has been preserved.
