Immanuel Church (Düsseldorf)
The Immanuelkirche at Pionierstrasse 61 in Düsseldorf - Friedrichstadt was built between 1965 and 1966 according to plans by the architect Heinz Kalenborn for the Evangelical Peace Church. It is an example of the use of concrete as a building material. The “inside and outside of the wall surfaces are made of exposed concrete”. The relief "Jesus in the boat" and the writing "Don't you believe that way you won't stay" are works by the Düsseldorf artist Curt Beckmann.
description
The building complex consists of three buildings that close a narrow gap in a narrow backyard. Facing the street is a residential building that houses the parish council, the nurses' station and the parish apartment, while the church building can be found in the back yard. The forecourt between the church and the house is used as a playground by the kindergarten in the middle. The ground floor of the residential building is largely left open, allowing views from the street side to the back yard with the church building. Daylight falls into the church through the gallery in the forecourt and the rear building wicket .
organ
The organ was built in 1967 by the organ building company Rudolf von Beckerath (Hamburg). The slider chests -instrument has 25 registers on two manuals and pedal . The actions are mechanical.
