particularities |
The Immense pond is a quarry pond 2km west of Lehrte in the Region Hannover , Niedersachsen . It is located on the Immenser Landstrasse, which leads from Lehrte to Immensen , immediately north of Federal Motorway 2 .
The 200 × 300 m lake with an almost rectangular area is used by the Hanover Fisheries Association as an angling waters, but with severe restrictions. Since 2002, the lake has been a particularly low-polluted salmonid water , which can only be fished with a mounted fly rod . Feeding fish and the use of attractants is not permitted. In 2009 eel, brown trout, perch, rainbow trout, roach, lake trout and arctic char were reported from the lake.
There are two islands in the lake that cannot be entered. The same applies to a protected area in the north-western corner of the lake, where deadwoods and underwater plants form a natural habitat and the water depth on the gravelly-stony subsoil is only 1–2 m. The lake is otherwise mostly 3–4 m deep, in the southern area there is a basin with a depth of 6.50 m.
Due to its low pollution and its near-natural character, the Immenser Pond was selected in 2013 to be stocked with the European crayfish , which is threatened with extinction in Germany and which had survived in a nearby garden pond. 300 animals were handed over to the Lower Saxony State Sport Fishing Association and then put into the lake after it had been ensured that there were no foreign cancers in the lake that could transmit the crayfish plague .
