Immunonutrition

Immunonutrition referred medically applied nutrition products , which in severe diseases in addition to pharmacotherapy and possibly surgical treatment , the healing by affecting the immune system are intended to supply. One also speaks of immunomodulating diets .

The medical application of Immunonutrition for serious diseases such as sepsis , burn , trauma , cancer and before and after surgery (perioperative) in accordance appropriate guidelines provided by the German Society for Nutritional Medicine (DGEM) and on the ESPEN (European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism).
