Impact Hub

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Impact Hub , founded in London in 2005 , is a global network that enables small businesses and freelancers to work and network in a shared, creatively furnished office space. It pursues the concept of co-working, i.e. the simultaneous work of different companies in one place. There are over 100 Impact Hubs worldwide, especially in large cities, where the concept of co-working is becoming increasingly popular. The currently 101 hubs now have around 16,000 so-called members, i.e. entrepreneurs who book their workstation Impact Hub and can take advantage of certain networking and training offers. The Impact Hub has the legal form of a GmbH with headquarters in Vienna , Zurich and Berlin .

The Impact Hub IP and brand belongs to the Impact Hub Association , which is a collective of all Impact Hubs. This association alone has the property rights to Impact Hub GmbH. This is led by a global team made up of Impact Hub founders. Impact Hub GmbH describes itself as a non-profit company with the aim of supporting social entrepreneurs around the world who base their business activities on social and ecological values.

Business model

Each individual Impact Hub primarily offers work space ( co-working ) for people who work entrepreneurially and for the common good and thus want to add socio-ecological added value. An impact hub is based on 3 pillars. The physical space already mentioned, the community, which is necessary for the vitalization of the space, as well as events on socially relevant topics that are thematically connectable to the activities of the community.

The individual hubs are members of the global Impact Hub Association, who pay revenue shares to Impact Hub Global annually, but remain largely independent in their daily work. Once founded, the Impact Hubs are financed through membership fees, room rentals, collaborations and additional services, such as advice on start-up financing, further training offers or consulting. All Impact Hubs are started by local founders, together they form the global Impact Hub network.

Community

The Impact Hub community is made up of their members, who are mainly social entrepreneurs . In addition to offering the work space, Impact Hubs aim to promote the exchange of knowledge and collaboration among members and to create an environment in which “Impact” can grow. The focus is on societal issues.

Member survey

Impact Hub GmbH prepares and publishes a member survey every year. In it, the reader learns who the individual members are, what they do and how they try to increase the impact on society through their company. This is an independent study that is carried out and analyzed by the University of Vienna .

Cooperations

Impact Hub Global and each individual Impact Hub work together with various companies and organizations whose aim is to jointly promote social innovations, initiate problem-oriented programs and thus promote social change. These include, for example, funding programs for founders of a social enterprise.
