House of poets Brückner-Kühner

The poet's house Brückner-Kühner in Kassel was the living, working and guest house of the writer couple Christine Brückner and Otto Heinrich Kühner and is now a writer's museum.

Location and history

The small terraced house with its own garden is located at Hans-Böckler-Strasse 5 in Kassel . The terraced housing estate was built in 1955. In 1960 Christine Brückner settled down in Kassel again and in 1965 bought the house and garden. In 1967 her second husband Otto Heinrich Kühner moved into the house in the Kassel garden city of Auefeld .

The poet's house not far from Karlsaue and Schönfeld Palace was described by Christine Brückner in many autobiographical writings. In the row house, many stories and novels by Christine Brückner, a. a. the Poenichen trilogy and stories and grotesques, u. a. der Pummerer written by Otto Heinrich Kühner. In 1996 Christine Brückner died in her house.

The terraced house and the associated garden were left in their original state after the death of the writers.

The Brückner-Kühner poet's house is now a Hessian literature museum and the headquarters of the Brückner-Kühner Foundation .
