Impler is the name of an old south German patrician dynasty whose members were among the wealthiest families in Munich in the late Middle Ages. A main street in the Sendling district of Munich is named after the Impler family .

The Impler family is mainly based in the Au area near Bad Aibling (historically Au vorm Gebirg).

Well-known family members

  • Johann (es) "Hans" Impler († 1385) was a cloth merchant and councilor. From 1364 to 1374 he was a member of the outer city council and in 1371 the inner city council. He was in the civil uprising against the dukes Stephan III. Kneißl and Friedrich tortured by the rebels and beheaded at Schrannenplatz (today's Marienplatz ), who had obviously wrongly made him solely responsible for the high tax burden. This event went down in the history of the city of Munich as the “Impler Uprising”.
  • Franz Impler (died around 1398/99), son of Hans Impler, Munich house owner and founder, member of the city chamber. His heirs still paid taxes until 1405. After that, the name Impler disappeared from Munich's city history.
