Impossible Pictures Limited is an English television production company.

history

The company was founded in 2002 by Tim Haines and Jasper James . Both previously worked for the BBC . As part of the BBC, the two produced the successful dinosaur trilogy with Dinosaurs - In the Realm of Giants , The Heirs of the Saurians and The Ancestors of the Saurians .

After several BBC productions about prehistoric life, Tim Haines decided to start his own independent company in 2002 - Impossible Pictures.

Now they have produced docu-dramas like Prehistoric Park - Extinction was yesterday or Perfect Disaster . With Primeval , they finally produced their first TV series, which consists entirely of drama. In addition to TV shows, they also produced films such as "The Lost World", which was shot shortly after "Walking with Dinosaurs", or ITV's "Frankenstein".

Over time, not only did their genre change, but so did the stations they worked with. In the beginning they only produced for the BBC. They later broadcast on Discovery Channel. Currently (2010) they work for ITV and produced Prehistoric Park and Primeval . Most of their productions were co-financed by the German broadcaster ProSieben . From the beginning there was a collaboration for the visual effects with Framestore .

At first Tim used infrared images of the animals as a logo for his productions. In "Walking with Dinosaurs" it was a T-Rex cub and in "Walking with Beasts" it was a smilodon. Since the founding, a man holding a picture frame at an angle in front of his face has been used as the logo. In the picture frame, a suitable picture was put in for each episode of a program, which then looked as if z. B. the creature come out of the picture.
