Impuls ( own spelling ImPuls ) is a German-speaking band from Tuttlingen , which is part of alternative rock .

In the band's music there are also influences from other styles such as B. punk rock or pop music . The name contains an ambiguity in its spelling. It stands for both the noun impulse and “in the pulse”, which is intended as an allusion to the expression “music in the blood”.

history

The band was founded in 2013 and emerged from the former band Stereogain, which was founded in 2003 by Markus Lehmann and Heiko Merz under the name Zeitgeist and was called Stereogain from 2010.

After front man Crischa Wagner announced his departure from the band in January 2013, Sebastian Rist took over his role. At the same time Michael Urso replaced his predecessor Guillaume Riberaud on bass. At the end of 2017, drummer Daniel Koch left the band. Tobias Schutzbach took over his role.

The band had already released two studio albums as stereo gain and one appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival (2012).

With the release of the first studio album “Ration Rock” under the name ImPuls, the band's first official music video was released in 2015 for the single “Wenn ich know wer ich bin” (Wenn I know who I am) . The album was produced by Daniel Konold in the Werkall Studios, Ulm . Oliver Braun from Buzz Medialabs in Bad Saulgau was responsible for the production of the music video .

In the same year the band won the music competition "The Voice of the CSD". On this occasion the future drummer Tobias Schutzbach helped out.

In January 2018 the second studio album "Polarock" followed, which was also recorded in the Werkall studios in Ulm. Another music video was produced by Buzz Medialabs for the single "Was immer".

The single "The most beautiful song in the world" from the first studio album was awarded the 34th German Rock and Pop Prize 2016 in the category "Best Rock Song" and was released again at the end of 2018 as a single in a shortened radio edit. Another music video was released for this track in January 2019.

The single reached number 3 in the download charts of the streaming provider Amazon in the category "New Releases Alternative & Indie" in December 2018. In December 2018, the band played an unplugged version in a TV interview for the program "Vollwert - Kreative Köpf aus Kunst und Kultur" the single in the Mellowave Studios in Waiblingen .
