In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening is a song composed by Hoagy Carmichael in 1951 . The text is from Johnny Mercer . In the version sung by Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman , it was used as the movie song for the movie Wedding Parade.

At the Academy Awards in 1952 , the song was awarded the Oscar in the Best Song category.

The song has been covered many times, including by Dean Martin Frank Sinatra and Bette Midler .
