Inceptisol

As inceptisol be designated according to the USDA Soil Taxonomy young soils with very weakly formed vertical profile. These products are used in tropical before and in temperate latitudes and are particularly frequent in Europe and the estuaries of major rivers such as the Ganges - Delta where on them, rice is grown. In the mountains, where they are often found on steep slopes, these soils are mainly used for forestry.

The fertility and pH of an Inceptisol are very variable. Horizons have only developed weakly, only Entisols have an even lower differentiation. Over time, organic material is deposited in the uppermost horizon, which thereby becomes darker and separates itself from the horizon below.

About 12.8 million square kilometers of the earth's surface or about 10 percent of the ice-free land area is covered with inceptisoles.
