The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (also called IIM Ahmedabad or IIMA ) is a business school in Ahmedabad , in the Indian state of Gujarat . It is the second oldest Indian Institute of Management and is considered one of the best business schools in India and Asia .

In its worldwide MBA ranking, the Financial Times placed the IIMA in 24th place in 2016. In the career advancement category, the IIMA takes first place worldwide, ahead of business schools such as Harvard Business School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business . Furthermore, according to Bloomberg, the MBA program (PGP) is considered to be the most selective with an acceptance rate of 0.25 percent and an average GMAT score of 770, which corresponds to the best percentile of all test participants. In addition to the PGP program, the IIMA offers an MBA program for executives (PGPx).

The university's chairman is Kumar Mangalam Birla , one of the richest entrepreneurs in Asia with an estimated net worth of over US $ 9.1 billion.

The IIM Ahmedabad was founded in 1961 as an autonomous institution by the Indian state in cooperation with the state of Gujarat and the Indian economy. When the university was founded, the scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai significantly involved.
